US data due out today: PMI and consumer confidence index

On Tuesday, August 31, there will be a plethora of market-moving events to impact the US stock market. Apart from the weekly report on retail sales scheduled for release at 11:45 GMT and the S&P/Case-Shiller Composite Index representing 20 major metropolitan regions which is due out at 13:45 GMT, we will be waiting for the Chicago PMI, which is expected to drop to 57 from 62.3 recorded in July.
A little later, at 14:00 GMT, all eyes will be on the consumer confidence index which is predicted to reach 50.5 in August, i.e. slightly up from 50.4 seen in July.
The following companies are scheduled to announce their earnings today:
• DSW at 11:00 GMT
• ABM Industries (after hours)
By 10:10 GMT, S&P 500 stock index futures were trading down 0.212%, while DJIA stock index futures were off 0.24%.
